Anne Schutte, Ph.D. Associate Professor, Department of Psychology

Anne Schutte's research interests are in the area of cognitive development in early childhood. In general, she is interested in the role of experience in the development of spatial cognition. Her primary research program examines the development of spatial working memory in early childhood and what type of experiences influence its development. Although Schutte's research is behavioral, she is also interested in developmental changes in the neural underpinnings of spatial working memory. Therefore, her research is based on a neural network model of cognition, otherwise known as the dynamic field theory.

Schutte received her master’s in psychology from Concordia University in Illinois and her doctorate in developmental psychology from the University of Iowa. She joined the faculty at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2004.
